What Web Browsers does Replay Media Catcher 4 Support?
Unlike most other streaming media recorders Replay Media Catcher 4 is not dependent on any particular browser or browser version. Replay Media Catcher 4 does not use browser plugins or any other technology that could make your browser unstable. Feel free to use any browser you like. Replay Media Catcher 4's ability to record will not be affected.
Some other sites download very slowly. What can I do?
By default Replay Media Catcher is set with an initial buffer time of just over 8 seconds - 8192 milliseconds. When the duration of a stream is known and this is less than 60 minutes and enable super download is selected in Settings, the buffer time is set to the duration of the stream and the stream will download all at once and fast.
In the case of these site, no duration is transmitted and so the default buffer is not adjusted.
At any time you can up the default buffer size. Here's how:
Select Tools > Settings and expand RTMP Download Tweaks
Changing the Initial Client Buffer Size setting to something like 3590000 will download just under 60 mins worth in one hit.
Sometimes I get many duplicates of the same YouTube video. What can I do?
New YouTube protocols use "adaptive" streaming. As YouTube determines that there is enough bandwidth to support a higher audio bitrate, it starts a new feed to your computer with that bitrate. This can happen a few times as YouTube determines the best quality it can send to you. We happen to catch each of these better streams in the process, resulting in the best available video for applian customers. Typically, the final video with largest file size will be the highest quality, and this can be confirmed by getting the properties of the file from Windows File Explorer.
Also Youtube has changed the way they are streaming their media and Replay Media Catcher 4 does not support the mp4 file. We did release Replay Media Catcher 5 that fixes this issue:

Replay Media Catcher 4 is not capturing anything at all. Including YouTube and I see no activity in the status area. What's wrong?
It may sound too obvious, but make sure you've started recording by either clicking the large green Start Recording button or setting Replay Media Catcher to start automatically in Tools-Settings-Download Settings . If Replay Media Catcher is actively recording, the green start button will turn red and you'll see a spinning purple circle next to the word Active in the top right area of Replay Media Catcher's window. You must start recording before you begin playing the stream that you want to record. If you played this stream once before, you may need to refresh your browser so that Replay Media Catcher can detect it.
Make sure you're in the right view to see what's currently being downloaded. In the left pane, click In progress or Today in the Recordings tree so that you can see any current activity.
Please make sure that you’ve given Replay Media Catcher permissions in any security or anti-virus software that you may be running.
If you’re on a proxy server, be sure that the proxy settings in Internet Explorer are entered correctly. Replay Media Catcher uses IE’s proxy settings even if Internet Explorer is not your default browser.
Sometimes clearing your browser cache can help Replay Media Catcher to detect the stream.
If you’re still having trouble, please run a test in de-bug mode and send us the log file. Here’s how:
a.Open Replay Media Catcher
b.Don’t start recording
c.Click Help > About and expand Support and check Debug Mode and then OK
d.Click the Start Recording button.
e.Go to YouTube and start watching a video in your browser. Wait until Replay Media Catcher should have picked it up and started downloading. Let the video play a few minutes.
f.Click the stop recording button.
g.Click Help > About and expand Support and click the email logs to support link. Please attach that file to your support ticket and explain that you've followed all of the steps from this FAQ.
