Importantly, a forgotten password will render the drive inaccessible, and the drive will need to be erased before reuse.

After the application has been installed, connect your compatible WD drive to your PC. Once attached, it can immediately determine whether it is compatible. The drive's name, drive letter, security settings, and storage capacity will all be shown in the main window. Select the "auto unlock" option in your settings if you wish to have the WD drive unlocked automatically.

To create a new password, simply unzip the file into a folder and double-click the.exe file to install it. Enter the security key you want to use as your password in the appropriate fields, then select "save." Make sure you write down or remember this password because the WD Security app does not have a "lost password" option; the only thing you can do is set a password hint, which will prevent you from accessing your data if you forget it. When you create a password with Western Digital Security for your WD drive, the drive's data will also be encrypted, making it impossible for anyone else to recover your private documents and files.

Download and install WD Security on Windows.

1. Download WD Security.

2. Go to Downloads folder and find WDSecurity_WIN.zip.

Right-click WDSecurity_WIN.zip.

Select Extract All.

Click Extract.

Double-click into the WDSecurity_WIN folder.

Double-click WDSecuritySetup.exe.

3. Read the EULA (End User License Agreement).

Check the box.

Click Install.

4. click finish
